Core medical system – Information Health problem addressed These devices provide an general treatment modality within the fi elds of dermatology, oral surgical procedure, gynecology, urology, otolaryngology, proctology, and ophthalmology. They can be used to treat malignant and benign tumors, acne, warts, and hemorrhoids. Product description These gadgets are to be had as consoles or as stand-by myself or hand held devices. Consoles are freestanding units that commonly comprise cryogen gas cylinders, strain regulators, indicators, and working controls. They are normally battery powered and may be equipped with a probe-tip fi beroptic light supply for transillumination of tissue. Stand-by myself devices consist of a tank, a pressure regulator, and a probe connected by using tubing to the tank. Handheld devices are light-weight, transportable CSUs that generally use liquid nitrogen as the cryogen and are either reusable or disposable (with man or woman fuel cartridges). Principles of operation CSUs apply a refrigerant (cryogen) to withdraw warmth from goal tissue both thru direct application or indirectly via touch with a cryogen-cooled probe. There are fundamental styles of CSUs: people who use liquid nitrogen and people that use nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), or different compressed gases. All CSUs appoint either a closed or an open machine. In a closedsystem CSU, the cryogen fl ows via an insulated shaft in the hollow probe, cools the top, and is exhausted back thru the probe. Open-machine CSUs follow cryogen immediately to the target tissue. CSUs the use of N2O or CO2 aren’t commonly suitable for use as open systems because cryogen “snow” would build up on the goal tissue and insulate the lesion from the cryogen spray. Liquid nitrogen CSUs can be both open or closed. Operating steps A physician will use a cryosurgical unit to introduce a refrigerant to goal tissue (e.G., wart, tumor) either through direct utility (dabbing or spraying on) or thru a cryogen-cooled probe (e.G., gun-kind or pencil-fashioned with either a curved or directly tip).
