ReBALKAN’s new language-learning system has started publishing its Albanian programme. Users can learn Albanian vocabulary through images, pronunciation audio and three different word games while tracking their scores and competing on the leaderboard.

Who can learn Albanian with ReBALKAN?
The system supports Turkish, English, Macedonian and Albanian instruction interfaces. Learners can select a language they understand and study Albanian words through translations in that language.
English speakers can learn through English equivalents, while Turkish and Macedonian speakers can use their own languages. Children and native Albanian speakers may also practise and expand their vocabulary directly through images.
Why learn Albanian?
Albanian is valuable for communicating in Albania, Kosovo and Albanian-speaking communities across the Balkans. Basic Albanian can support travel, education, employment, business and everyday communication.
- Communicate directly with Albanian speakers
- Handle everyday travel situations more confidently
- Build stronger local business relationships
- Understand common expressions in property and vehicle listings
- Explore Albanian culture, music and local content
- Adapt more easily when studying, working or living in Albanian-speaking areas
Is Albanian difficult to learn?
Like every language, Albanian requires regular practice. It uses the Latin alphabet, and once its sounds are understood, many written words can be pronounced consistently.
The Albanian alphabet contains 36 letters. Combinations such as DH, GJ, LL, NJ, RR, SH, TH, XH and ZH are treated as individual alphabet letters. ReBALKAN’s letter game handles these combinations as single keys to represent the real structure of Albanian words.
Instead of relying on long vocabulary lists, ReBALKAN combines short games, images, repetition and pronunciation audio. Learners see, hear, identify and reconstruct each word.
Three Albanian word games
1. Find the correct word from the image
An image and four Albanian answer options are displayed. The player selects the word represented by the image, connecting visual memory with meaning.
2. Hear the word and select the image
An Albanian word is displayed and pronounced. The player selects the correct picture from nine visual options. The pronunciation can be replayed through the audio button.
3. Build the word from letters
The player looks at an image and arranges mixed letters to construct the Albanian word. Additional trap letters are introduced according to the selected level.
Albanian combinations such as DH, GJ, LL, NJ, RR, SH, TH, XH and ZH are treated as single alphabet letters and single game keys.
Turning vocabulary practice into a game
Traditional memorisation can become repetitive. ReBALKAN introduces categories, levels, timing, scores and competition to make vocabulary practice more engaging.
After each game, users can review correct and incorrect answers, average response time, total time and the final score. The best score for each category and level is saved.
- Topic-based categories
- Difficulty levels from 1 to 5
- An option combining all levels
- Correct and incorrect answer statistics
- Average and total response time
- Personal best scores
- Community leaderboard
The leaderboard encourages learners to repeat earlier categories, respond more accurately and improve their own results.
Images, audio and repetition
Seeing an image, hearing the pronunciation and reconstructing the word can create a richer learning experience than reading a translation alone.
After each answer, the correct Albanian pronunciation is played. When the answer is incorrect, the correct word is displayed so that the mistake becomes part of the learning process.
Learn at your own level
Words are organised by category and difficulty. Learners can select one level or combine all available levels. Beginners can focus on essential vocabulary, while experienced users can challenge themselves with a broader word pool.
What does the current system teach?
The current version focuses mainly on learning vocabulary, pronunciation and strengthening word recall. It is not currently presented as a complete Albanian grammar or speaking course.
Users can practise meaning, visual recognition, pronunciation, accurate spelling and rapid recall.
Building a learning path from A1 to C1
ReBALKAN’s long-term objective extends beyond vocabulary games. Additional educational modules are planned on top of the existing system.
- Essential Albanian grammar patterns
- Sentence-building exercises
- Everyday conversational expressions
- Listening-comprehension activities
- Reading and writing practice
- Level-based lessons
- A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 learning paths
These modules are development objectives and are not all active in the current word-game system. The long-term goal is to guide learners from their first Albanian words toward independent language use.

The most difficult step is often getting started. Playing short games regularly, repeating previous categories and improving your score can help create a sustainable learning habit.
