ReBALKAN’s new language-learning system has started publishing its Macedonian programme. In its first stage, users can learn Macedonian vocabulary through images, pronunciation audio and three different word games while tracking scores and competing on leaderboards.

Who can learn Macedonian with ReBALKAN?
The system supports Turkish, English, Macedonian and Albanian instruction interfaces. Users can select a language they understand and study Macedonian words through translations and instructions in that language.
English speakers can learn through English equivalents, while Turkish and Albanian speakers can use their own languages. Children and native speakers using the Macedonian interface may also practise vocabulary directly through images.

Is Macedonian difficult to learn?
Every new language requires regular practice, but the strong relationship between Macedonian spelling and pronunciation can make structured progress easier. Once the alphabet and its basic sounds are understood, learners can often predict how written words are pronounced.
Instead of relying on long vocabulary lists, ReBALKAN combines short games, images, repetition and audio. Learners see, hear, select and reconstruct words through different activities.
Three Macedonian word games
1. Find the correct word from the image
The game displays an image and four Macedonian answer options. The player selects the word represented by the image, connecting visual memory with meaning.
2. Hear the word and select the image
A Macedonian word is displayed and pronounced. The player selects the correct picture from nine visual options. The pronunciation can be played again using the audio button.
Learners who are not yet comfortable with Cyrillic may enable an optional Latin-letter aid during the game.
3. Build the word from letters
The player looks at an image and arranges mixed letters to construct the correct Macedonian word. Additional trap letters are introduced according to the selected level.
This game strengthens both recognition and accurate spelling.
Turning vocabulary practice into a game
Traditional vocabulary memorisation can feel repetitive. ReBALKAN adds categories, levels, scores and competition to make practice more engaging.
After a game, users can review correct and incorrect answers, average response time, total time and the overall score. The best result for each category and level is saved.

The leaderboard is not only about winning. It encourages learners to repeat earlier categories and improve their own results.
Images, audio and repetition
Seeing an image, hearing the correct pronunciation and reconstructing the word can create a stronger learning experience than reading a translation alone.
After each answer, the correct Macedonian pronunciation is played. When an answer is incorrect, the correct word is shown so that the mistake becomes part of the learning process.
Learn at your own level
Words are organised into categories and difficulty levels. Learners can select a specific level or play with all available levels. Beginners can focus on essential vocabulary, while more experienced users can challenge themselves with a larger word pool.
What does the current system teach?
The published first version focuses mainly on learning vocabulary and strengthening word recall. It is not currently presented as a complete grammar or speaking course.
Users can practise meanings, visual recognition, pronunciation, spelling and rapid recall.
Building a path from A1 to C1
ReBALKAN’s long-term objective extends beyond vocabulary games. New educational modules are planned on top of the existing word-learning foundation.

The current ReBALKAN language-learning module focuses on vocabulary. Grammar, sentence-building and A1–C1 modules are development objectives, and their publication dates and final scope may change during development.
