Learning English can open new opportunities in education, employment, travel and international communication. One of the biggest challenges for beginners, however, is learning and retaining a large number of new words. ReBALKAN has now launched English learning content within its developing language-learning system, designed to make vocabulary practice more engaging and consistent.

Instead of asking users to study vocabulary only from static lists, the system combines words with images, audio, answer choices and letter-building exercises. Vocabulary practice therefore becomes an interactive activity rather than a passive memorisation task.
Users of the Turkish, English, Macedonian and Albanian interfaces can access the English learning section. Instructions are presented through the user’s selected interface while the exercises focus on English vocabulary.
Why learn English?
English is one of the world’s most widely used languages for international communication. It can help people communicate across borders, access educational resources and benefit from a much larger part of the digital world.
- It may improve access to international career opportunities.
- It can make communication easier while travelling.
- It supports access to universities, courses and academic resources.
- It helps users follow technology, software, science and online content.
- It can make films, music, books and games more enjoyable in their original language.
- It enables broader social and professional communication.
Practise through three word games
The ReBALKAN learning system currently includes three game formats that allow users to encounter the same vocabulary in different ways.
1. Choose the correct word for the image
An image is displayed together with four English word options. The player selects the word that correctly represents the image, strengthening the connection between meaning and written vocabulary.
2. Find the correct image for the word
An English word is displayed or played as audio, and the user chooses the matching picture from nine options. This activity combines reading, listening, comprehension and visual memory.
3. Build the word from mixed letters
The letters of an English word are presented in mixed order. Some rounds may also include extra trap letters. The user must select and arrange the correct letters to complete the word represented by the image.
Turn vocabulary practice into a friendly competition
Regular repetition is essential when learning a language. ReBALKAN supports this process with levels, points and leaderboards. Players can earn scores by completing games, monitor their progress and join a friendly competition with other learners.
Vocabulary is organised into categories, while difficulty can progress from level one to level five. This structure helps learners move gradually from basic vocabulary towards more challenging words.
English does not have to feel difficult
The time required to learn English depends on the learner’s starting level, routine and frequency of practice. Short, consistent sessions can nevertheless be more manageable than occasional intensive study. Learning a few words every day and revisiting them through games can gradually create a strong vocabulary foundation.
The English alphabet may already look familiar to users of several Latin-based writing systems. Pronunciation, contextual meanings and irregular spelling still require careful practice. ReBALKAN aims to make that repeated practice easier to maintain.
What does the system offer today?
The current English module primarily supports vocabulary learning, image association, word recognition, spelling practice and repetition. Users can study words in different categories, play the available games and follow their scores.
A long-term path from A1 to C1
The ReBALKAN language-learning system is under active development. Future stages are planned to include grammar patterns, sentence construction, listening comprehension, reading, writing and everyday conversation exercises.
The long-term objective is to develop a structured learning environment capable of supporting users from the introductory A1 level towards C1. These future components are development goals and are not all currently active.
